    GrowthMindset is seeking an Assistant Plan Controller for a direct hire position located in Clayton, MO with one of our leading clients.

     

    This position is part of the Corporate Accounting team.

     

    Position Purpose: Assist with the management of the financial affairs for all health plans.

     

    Assistant Plan Controller role consisting of a blend of working on/with 3-5 different health care companies/divisions: • corporate oversight for field-based division(s). That is, being the representative on the St. Louis accounting team that is closest to this entity and working with the division to understand/review its: o monthly results/actuals, understanding its forecast, understanding its business, identify/work through/resolve accounting issues o being the corporate finance/accounting representative to facilitate change on behalf of this division by collaborating with other corporate finance and non-finance departments • monthly g/l close responsibility • Special project work on various company/department initiatives
     
     
     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial analyses of operations for guidance of management
    • Assist with the preparation of reports which outline the company’s financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present and future earnings. Assist with the preparation of statutory reports
    • Assist with the monitoring of business processes and systems to assure integrity in health plan financial reports and information and in systems of internal accounting control in compliance with GAAP and/or SSAP and Company policies and standards
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
    • Assist in the arrangement of audits of the health plan’s accounts
    • Provide financial and business analysis as required
    • Convey health plan needs to the appropriate parties for coordinated action. Help develop, implement and monitor program results

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree preferred.
    • 4+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in public accounting or healthcare industry.
    • License/Certification: CPA preferred.

     

     
    What are the 3-4 non-negotiable requirements on this position?
    Seeking a candidate with a blend of thought leadership, strong interpersonal skills, a desire to ask questions to further one’s knowledge, a facilitator, high emotional intelligence, and strong technical knowledge of GAAP and reporting experience is a plus. Someone who is looking to get into a Fortune 50 company, learn multiple health care entities, is interested in figuring things out and solving challenges/putting their stamp on things and adding value, with strong technical skills. A candidate with public accounting experience is a plus. He/she does not have to be directly from public, although that typically works out well. A couple years in industry post public is also fine.
